Push notifications

Browser push for the team and mobile-app push for the patient — who gets what, who turns it on, and what push does not cover.

Push is a notification that appears outside the app — on a computer desktop or a phone screen. Heltio uses it in two independent places: for the team in the dashboard browser, and for the patient in the mobile app.

How to do it

01

Turn on browser push for yourself

The first time you enter the dashboard, the browser asks permission for notifications. Permission can later be revoked and restored in the browser settings — Heltio has no say in that.

In Settings → My preferences, the Browser push toggle decides whether reminders reach you even when the Heltio tab is not in front. Beside it sits Mobile push for the app on your phone.

02

Check what the patient receives

The patient's mobile app asks permission with a Stay in the loop screen and an Allow notifications button. After that the patient manages them, on the Notifications screen, where every kind has its own toggle:

  • Appointment 24h before, Appointment 2h before, Appointment changes
  • Messages from your therapist
  • Daily exercise reminder, Evening exercise reminder
  • Forms due, Session summaries
  • Payment confirmations
  • Waitlist slot available
03

Respect quiet hours

Both you and the patient have your own quiet hours — the patient's are called Quiet hours, yours Quiet Hours. A notification that falls into that window is held and arrives later. The patient's default window is 22:00–07:00 until they change it.

The exception on your side is reminders with the Urgent priority — those always cut through the quiet.

04

Set the daily reminder time

The patient picks their Daily reminder time for exercises on the same screen. Program reminders go out by push only — we do not send them by SMS, so a daily message never eats into the balance.

What push will not do

  • It will not replace SMS for an appointment. A patient without the app gets no push, and you have no way of checking that from the dashboard. Leave SMS on for appointment reminders.
  • You cannot send a push "by hand". There is no button that sends a notification to a chosen person — push only follows a specific event.
  • There is no delivery confirmation. Unlike SMS, push does not report whether it arrived. When a device says the subscription has expired, Heltio simply stops sending to it.

Info

Switch clinic?

What this means: The notification belongs to a clinic other than the one currently open.

What to do: Choose **Switch** to move to the right clinic, or **Cancel** to stay where you are.
Warning

Start and end time are the same — please choose a different time.

What this means: Quiet hours in the patient's app have an identical start and end.

What to do: Push them apart by at least a quarter of an hour — otherwise the window has no length.

Browser push is set by each person for themselves, and nobody changes it for anyone else. The patient's notifications cannot be enabled from the dashboard either — that decision is theirs and is stored on their device.
